Not much to say today, just adding a video sample shot with the Nikon P7000. The video is a short overview of the Nikon 85mm F3.5G VR DX Micro lens. In the future I will be adding short video overviews like this with most of my reviews. I'll have more to say about shooting video, using an external microphone and more in part 3 of my hands on preview of the Nikon P7000 tomorrow.
Edited: Second video added, this video demonstrates the P7000 with full time auto focus turned on. You can hear a small tapping or clicking sound, that is the auto focus. When you record sound with an external microphone that sound is not recorded.
Watch the video on youtube or embedded.
What do you think of the autofocus mechanism on the P7000 while shooting video? Is there any audible sound recorded when it focusing during recording?
ReplyDeleteAlso, does the Camera have it's time-lapse feature as well?
Thanks for posting your impressions on the camera.
The auto focus while shooting video has two different modes. If you use single AF then the camera only focuses before you start shooting, thus no noise when recording. If you use Full Time AF (AF-F) then the camera focuses during recording, but if you use the built in microphone you will hear an audible noise in the recording as a result. You can get around that by using an external microphone though.
ReplyDeleteThe camera does have an interval timer that will take shots every 30s, 1 minute, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes. The timer starts after you press the shutter button and wont stop till it fills the card, or you stop it.
Robert, Thanks for the reply. I am considering upgrading to this camera from my Nikon P5100, as a supplement to my D90. The video features alone are pretty impressive, with the stereo recording. This seems like a very solid device for it's size.
ReplyDeleteThe video is a nice feature to have, and the ability to record sound with an external microphone is a real plus.
