Sandhill Cranes Nesting Again

Last year the pair of resident Sandhill Crane's at the George C Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary had two chicks, one of which died, and the other is still alive and well. Within the last month the local pair chased off last years offspring and started looking for a place to nest this year. After a short time they picked the same nesting location as last year, which hopefully means they will be as successful as last year. Right now the pair is protecting two eggs, so hopefully they will have two new chicks this year. The eggs are due to hatch sometime in the next week or so. I'll be heading out as often as I can in hopes of capturing the delightful moment of birth, or early life of the chicks.
