Just Being There Is Half The Battle

Cameras are great tools, in the right hands, but one of the most important lessons to learn about in the field of photography is just to get out and be at the location you want to photograph. Trial and error are great teachers, more so than any photography course, but that can only get you so far.

Unless you are willing to step out, maybe on that cold winter evening when all you want to do is sit by the fire, you cannot get the shots you want. So challenge yourself, at least one day in the next week to do something you haven't done before, go out and take some photos when you do not want to.

After all, how can you take that great photo if you are sitting on the couch watching your favourite show on Netflix? Get out and find the action, it won't just come to you, at least not most of the time!
