Male Hooded Merganers
During my visit to the Reifel Bird Sanctuary yesterday I spotted several Hooded Merganers, two females and four males. Subject isolation was almost impossible since they were sticking together, which is common. One of the females was alone, but the light wasn't good for any shots so I captured this one of two males. From the looks of things, I suspect at least two of the males were juveniles, which would explain the smaller head, and white patch thereon. In this photo the Merganser in the foreground is the juvenile, while the one in the background is an adult.
