Over the past few days I've be going back over some photos from my spring visit to Jasper and Banff National Parks, and I found this image. Something about it grabbed my attention that I missed the first time going through the images. The ruggedness of the Canadian Rockies is on display here, and it is that very aspect of them that has drawn me there repeatedly. That feeling of ruggedness came across in colour, but I found that in black and white the story is told far better. Part of that is because all that is left after stripping the colour is rock and snow. As a result of that transition all of the other, less important, details in the image fade away.
