While out shooting this past Monday I saw something that normally would not catch my eye, but for reasons which I will explain, this did. During the latter period of my walk I spotted a bird I thought I had never seen before, due to the large orange blob on the neck. The large beak of the duck was familiar though, and upon closer inspection I quickly realized that the large blob was actually a leaf, caught on a female Northern Shoveler's body. With my hopes of spotting a rare duck gone, I took a few shots to document this occasion and moved on.
