Wood Ducks are usually not very comfortable around people, and will quickly take off at the first sign of trouble. Some of the resident Wood Ducks at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary are a little less timid, especially in late fall and winter, if you move carefully and get low to the ground. This particular drake sat on a log and watch me for a while, not overly concerned by my presence.
