While out at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary today I learned that the three week old Sandhill Crane chick in Friday's photo of the day died during the morning. This is sad news, meaning that the Sandhill Crane pair has now lost both of their chicks from this season (the other chick died within hours birth). The pair may lay more eggs as a result, but only time will tell.
