Learning Is Easy?

This morning I was reading an artical, It's easy to learn photography, but not easy to become a photographer over at DPS. In some ways that is an oxymoron, because in the process of learning photography one is becoming a photographer. Now a statement I could agree with is, 'It's easy to learn about photography, but not easy to becoming a professional photographer,' or, 'It is easy to learn the basics of photography, but it is not easy to become a highly skilled photographer.' I suspect that the person who wrote that statement was thinking along those lines, but the wording of a statement changes the meaning in the mind of the reader.

I challenge this idea that learning the skills needed to be a photographer are easy, because technical knowledge does not equal skill. So what do you think, is it easy to learn about photography, but difficult to become a skilled or professional photographer?

  1. I believe learning may be easy, cuz u just learn it but how you take the lesson and apply it may differ. I may learn something but may not be skilled enough to practice it as well as others may do

    1. Agreed, being able to learn something is different from being able to carry out what you learned in a proficient manner.
