Jasper: Day 1

Pyramid Mountain At Dusk

After a 9 hour drive from Vancouver BC, where I departed from this morning, I arrived in Jasper AB at 5PM MDT. The quiet mountain town of Jasper is a nice retreat from the hurried pace of Vancouver. Found my hotel shortly after arriving and got settled in. Had dinner at one of the local pubs, while watching the Tampa Bay Lightning defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Oh wait, this is a photography blog, not a travel blog almost forgot! This evening around 8PM local time I set out to take some images of the surroundings from town, since I didn't feel energetic enough to go farther than that after all the driving today. There wasn't a great deal of colour to be found in the sky, but the snow capped peaks of nearby mountains made up for that. Took the above image of Pyramid Mountain from an embankment near the railway junction on the edge of town.

Not much else to add right now, but there will be more to come in the days ahead.
