Columbian Ground Squirrels are a common sight in many areas of Manning Park, particularity in some of the campgrounds and the day use area at Lightning Lakes. These ground squirrels will eat any food or garbage that you leave lying around, so deposing of garbage properly is important. The campers across from my campsite learned that lesson the hard way, as a few squirrels tore apart a bag of garbage that was left at a picnic table. All I can say is, I'm glad it was the ground squirrels and not a bear!
